Discover Aarav's World

Aarav.jpg

My name is Aarav Srivastav, and I am currently a third year student at Purdue University pursuing a degree in robotics engineering technology with a concentration in mechanisms and controls.

I've always enjoyed making things and a lot of my formative experiences came from taking things apart, putting them back together, and reverse engineering how they worked. When working on projects, prototyping tends to always be my favorite phase because I enjoy testing out many different ideas and getting to employ as many different tactics to solve a specific problem as possible.

In the Community

FRC

Throughout my time as a student, I was deeply involved in the FRC community. For example, right after the pandemic ended, I worked with FIRST to start a team in North Carolina, running a week long camp for some students that wanted to get a jump start. Built a Centralized Robotics Training Hub. Launched FRCBootstraps.org, a comprehensive repository of robotics training materials designed to consolidate years of design experience and knowledge.

Even though I'm now out of the competition and no longer designing robots, I try to stay involved with the greater community and especially the Bay Area community, whether that involves being present in online circles or volunteering at local events. Recently I have taken up being an event emcee, where I get to work with many other coaches and volunteers I had met over the years.

Over the past few years, I have become a huge fan of live music. The energy performers have live can never be matched by a studio recording. I love going to concerts, from small basement shows in the local scene to sold out venues for huge artists. I am partial to smaller and mid-sized shows because getting to meet the bands after the show is a massive part of the concert experience for me, and that's far less possible at large events. Smaller shows have this feeling of community and I really enjoy being a part of that.
